The CRS produces Vermont Indicators, “a collaborative data centralization and clearinghouse project, designed for first-stop shopping of statistical data…” It has a prominent button on the main page:

When you get there, try searching the Profiles. First click on the appropriate green tab and then use the pull-down options to select a profile for a town/city, village, county, or the whole state.

Within a location, you can choose different “Theme Tables,” including Population, Race/Ethnicity, Education, Natural Resources, Public Safety, and others. At the town or county level, you can also compare one place to another.
