Our hearts go out to community members displaced by the fire at the Brooks House, which was built in 1871-72 by our own benefactor, George Brooks.  The Library will be working with United Way and other agencies to help connect people with the services they need.  We will be an information center, posting notices on this blog (tag: Brooks House) and on a physical bulletin board that United Way will place on the main floor of the Library.  That board will also be a center for offering and claiming needed items: “I’m offering a couch” — “I need a couch,” etc.

For an excellent overview of the situation as of 11:00 on 4/20/11, check Chris Grotke’s Q & A: The Brooks House Fire on ibrattleboro.com.
